#Perception Returns To TNT June 17th @perceptionTNT

Perception returns to TNT June 17th

After nearly a year of waiting Eric McCormack returns to TNT as Dr Daniel Pierce for season 3 of PERCEPTION. I really love this show. It could be brushed off as just another show about solving crimes but it is so much better than that.

Eric McCormack plays Dr. Daniel Pierce an academic neuroscientitist who teaches by day and helps the federal government solve crime with his deductive reasoning by night. But that's not all, Dr. Daniel Pierce is also struggling with his own issues, and it's not the usual crime drama issues of drinking, or women, or gambling, or some combination of all three. He is also a schizophrenic, which sometimes makes it difficult for him to tell the real from the delusion.

Basically, our leading man is the love child of (pick your favorite) Sherlock Holmes and Patricia Arquette's Alison DuBois on MEDIUM. Except here the ghosts are hallucinations. I really love this show. I know I said that already, but I just want to reiterate that.

Sadly, I could only find this tiny season 3 clip but you can see how likable McCormack makes this character in spite of his "eccentricities".

TNT LA Noir MOB CITY

TNT is premiering Mob City December 4. The story is set in LA in the mid 1940's, when mobster and the LAPD were at each other's throats. Based on the critically acclaimed book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, by John Buntin.
Mob City will air in two-hour blocks over three consecutive Wednesdays (Dec. 4, 11 and 18).

I had thought this was to be a series, but now it looks more like a mini series. Either way I'm sure to watch. Hoping it's so good they decide to develop it into a series...

The cast includes Jeffrey DeMunn (The Walking Dead, The Shawshank Redemption), Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) and Ed Burns(Entourage), Neal McDonough (Captain America,Desperate Housewives), Gregory Itzin (24), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes),Alexa Davalos (Clash of the Titans, The Mist) and Jeremy Luke (Don Jon).
TNT synopsis:

Mob City centers on Det. Joe Teague (Bernthal), an ex-Marine who holds his cards close to his chest. Teague has been assigned to a new mob task force headed by Det. Hal Morrison (DeMunn). The task force is part of a crusade by Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker (McDonough) to free the city of criminals like Ben “Bugsy” Siegel (Burns) and Mickey Cohen (Luke), the ruthless king of the Los Angeles underworld. Parker also won’t hesitate to go after anyone from his own police force who sells out honor and duty for the sake of a big payout.

Perception Returns to TNT Tonight

Perception returns to TNT tonight. If you missed the first season, Eric McCormack plays a schizophrenic college professor/crime fighter. I know it sounds far fetched, but it really is great.

Here's a little peak behind the scenes of the show.

Scott Wolf is also joining the cast this season, if you need an extra lure.

Larry Hagman RIP

So sad to hear Larry Hagman died today. I had the opportunity to talk with him and his original Dallas co stars at last years TCM Classic Film Fest. He seemed genuinely excited to revisit his character JR from Dallas on the revival of the show on TNT, which premiered last summer. They are, now, in the process of filming the second season so I can only hope he was enjoying himself right up till the end.

I've included the pictures I snapped that day last April. The top image is Larry with the back of costar Linda Grey (Sue Ellen). Below Larry and Patrick Duffy (Bobby).

And finally here is some very rough video of me interviewing Josh Henderson who plays JR's son John Ross saying some nice things about Hagman's portrayal of JR.

The Closer's Final Six Episodes

I'm so sad The Closer is starting it's final six episodes July 9th on TNT. I love this show.  I suppose 7 years is a good run. I'll be glued to these last few. Hope they find a good ending for our leading lady.

Still the show isn't totally gone. Because practically the entire cast will continue on a new show called Major Crimes beginning August 13th . We'll be trading Krya Sedgewick for the amazing Mary McDonnell.

So a little good news with the bad.

The Closer on TNT this WInter

The Closer starts it's second to last season Monday, November 28th. There will only be 5 episodes, so don't blink or you'll miss it. Brenda conitues to struggle with the lawsuit against her among other things this season. The series will finish this Summer.

I'm hoping we'll get to see more of Mary McDonnell whose spin off Major Crimes should premier sometime this Summer.

TNT The Closer Canelled Update

The Closer airs it's summer finale this Monday on TNT. I thought that would be the series Finale, but I just heard that not only will there be 6 more episodes in November but another 6 in Summer 2012. After which Mary McDonnell will premiere her spin off Major Crimes.
All of which is very good news indeed!!

The Closer Canceled

The Closer on TNT will have it's final season in 2011. The last season will begin filming in Spring 2011. They will reach their 100th episode. The press release I received says it was Kyra Sedgewick's decision.

I guess now that Kevin Bacon is pulling in the big buck with his commercial (see below), she doesn't need to work. Actually she's probably tired of going back and forth from New York to Los Angeles. I guess that's fair, since I complain when I have to go east of the 405.

I love the Closer. But there is something to the old saying "go out on top". If you haven't been watching this show you better get on it.

The Closer

The Closer comes back to TNT this Monday, Dec. 6th, with 5 new episodes. I don't know why they have to give it to us in dribs and drabs, but I'll take it.
Just thought I'd give you all a heads up!

Rizzoli and Isles on TNT tonight

Rizzoli & Isles premieres tonight on TNT after The season 6 opener of The Closer. TNT sent me an advance copy and I liked it. It stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. Harmon plays a police detective and Alexander a medical examiner. Their relationship reminds me of Nurse Jackie and the Doctor on Showtime. Alexander's character, Isles is beautifully dressed at all times, and the two do quite a bit of verbal sparring.
The show is violent and bloody. Sometimes, the first episode was a little too scary for me, but again I'm kind of a baby, so it may not be a problem for you. Check it out tonight and see for yourself.

The Closer New Season on TNT

The Closer premieres it's 6th season on TNT Monday, July 12.
I love this show. Kyra Sedgwick is great as the southern belle/Deputy Police Chief.
TNT sent me the first episode and it is every bit as good as last season, and sets up some interesting new story lines for this season.
I'll be watching every Monday night this summer!

Memphis Beat on TNT

Memphis Beat is a new show starting on TNT June 22nd. It has a great cast, with Jason Lee as the devoted police detective and Alfre Woodard as his new boss. Unfortunately, the show started off with Jason walking in on Alfre's first day announcements with a naked female torso lamp. I hate to seem like to the humorless feminist here but it really rubbed me the wrong way. They would never think of having him come in with a Sambo lamp??? I don't know why this sort of humiliation is still exceptable?? Anyway, Alfre reminds him that there are women there who do not care to work by boob light so he puts a bra on it. I'm still annoyed.

Beyond that opening scene I did enjoy the show. Somehow it kept reminding me of The Rockford Files, the music and general set decoration has a 70's feel. I do really like Jason Lee both as an actor and he is a great singer, which he did at the beginning and end of the episode. The character sings with a band in the evenings. It has a lot of great music.

Over all I'd say check this out it has great possibilities, if they don't get slap with a sexual harrassment suit.

Last night on TNT

By chance, I noticed one of my favorite shows, The Closer, started it's season last night. Whew..That was close. Anyway, It was good and I was glad that my tivo alerted me to my oversight.

After The Closer was over I watched the new show Men of a Certain Age. This Stars Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher. It's about three guys in mid life. For me the jury is still out. I have to admit I don't find the characters that sympathetic, but that may just be because I have my own mid life man to deal with.
It is interesting to see Ray Romano in a serious role. Scott Bakula is hunky as always, I still miss Quantum Leap. Andre Braugher's character is the most sympathetic, as he is struggling to support a family and deal with diabetes, all while trying to prove himself to his father who he works for. Poor bastard.
First episodes are hard to gauge since they are mostly just setting up the back story, but I'm definitely going to watch of few of these, if for no other reason than to get some insight into my own man of a certain age. Worse case scenario it'll make me grateful for having it so good.

Here's the promo:

TNT Tonight

TNT sent me the first episode of the new season of The Closer, which airs tonight, so I got to see it last week, and loved it. Course, I always watch The Closer and love it, so nothing new there. Just thought I'd give you all the heads up that it starts tonight.
TNT also sent the first episode of this seasons Raising The Bar. I'm not much of a courtroom drama kind a gal, but this was good, particularly if you like that sort of thing.
Anyway, hope you enjoy all the summer shows. I love that the cable networks give us summer shows, so we have something good to watch when we get tired of frolicking in the summer heat.
You can see more about the shows here
