TCM And The Oscar Goes To

TCM is airing an Oscar's documentary, And The Oscar Goes To, February 1st to kick off it's 31 Days of Oscar.

I was invited to the premiere last week at The Academy and it really is a great education of the Oscars from the beginning. I wish I could see all the old Oscar telecasts they show parts of. The film has interviews with many nominees and winners including Cher, George Clooney, Whoopie Goldberg, Steven Speilberg, etc..

TCM will further celebrate the Oscar all February and beyond with their 31 days of Oscar I love their new format of airing the nominees in one category for one year. It will be really interesting to see the films of one year all together and get a sense of the zeitgeist of that year.

Sunset Strip Documentary on Showtime

Friday August 16th at 8pm Showtime is premiering the documentary Sunset Strip by Hans Fjellstad. A feature length film, it tells the 100 year history of THE Sunset Strip from trade route to Rock and Roll.

I was too young for the 70s on The Strip but I did do a year or two there in the mid to late 80s. It was a wild place, full of music and everything that goes with it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this film covers it, and seeing all the history that went before, and finally what happens on the street that looks so quiet to me now. Probably because I'm in bed at 10 on weekends now days.

Richard Zanuck Doc Tonight on @TCM

They showed this world premiere documentary on Richard Zanuck, DON'T SAY NO UNTIL I FINISH TALKING, at the TCM Film Festival and unfortunately there was something else I HAD to see at the same time. I'm so glad they're airing it tonight!

I don't know if it is possible to be both born into your family business and be a self made man, but Richard Zanuck seems to me to have done just that. He gave us just about everyone of my favorite films from my childhood. Every thing from JAWS to THE SOUND OF MUSIC. I could go on and on, but I'm sure the film tonight will cover his carreer far better than I ever could.

Sadly Richard died last year but he did get a chance to see this completed documentary on him and according to Robert Osborne, they didn't change a frame.

Really looking forward to this tonight. If you want to I'm sure there will be people live tweeting it at #TCMParty.

Tonight at 8pm et and encore at 11:30pm et on TCM check your local listings

Being Elmo

Very excited to see Being Elmo. This Documentary is about Kevin Clash, the man behind Elmo. I had an opportunity to meet Kevin and Elmo at The PBS Press tour last summer, and he really is an amazing person, as well as, puppeteer.

About The Film:

Beloved by children of all ages around the world, Elmo is an international icon. Few people know his creator, Kevin Clash, who dreamed of working with his idol, master puppeteer Jim Henson. Displaying his creativity and talent at a young age, Kevin ultimately found a home on Sesame Street. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, this documentary includes rare archival footage, interviews with Frank Oz, Rosie O’Donnell, Cheryl Henson, Joan Ganz Cooney and others and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Sesame Street and the Jim Henson Workshop.

You can find showtimes and theatres on Being Elmo website
