August Osage County, The Movie

I just heard that August Osage County, the movie has been cast with Meryl Streep and Julia Robert's. I wrote about August Osage County at The Ahmanson almost exactly a year ago. It was a fabulous play and as is always the case I'm a little concerned about the hollywoodification of it. I love these two actresses, but I'm just not sure. I guess I have a year to wonder and fret about it.
No matter what I'll definitely be first in line to see it though.

This week in Elise

I am so sorry to have been MIA this week. I did kind of just play Hookie on Tuesday but then Wednesday one of my oldest and dearest friends had her baby and I wanted to be there help, and then yesterday I had to catch up on all the things I let slide Wednesday. And now here I am. End of excuses.

Last night I went and saw August: Osage County at the Ahmanson. It was great probably one of my favorite shows in the last 5 years. Great great great!!! It runs till Oct 18th. So get your tickets now. The entire cast is stellar, and the story line or lines are great. I was literally laughing and crying and having a wonderful time. When a play runs three hours and you're dying for more they are definitely doing something way right. End gush

The other thing I wanted to get in was that Eddie Izzard is playing the Nokia Live January 29th. I love him and I've never seen him live. So I will definitely try to get to this show. Whatever happened to his show on TV The Riches???

The Ahmanson Theatre 2009-2010 Season

The Ahmanson Season has begun with what I think is their best show this year, August: Osage County. I look forward to seeing this Tony Award winner. It runs through October 18th so if you haven't gotten tickets yet do so.
November 13th Brings Mary Poppins with the original Broadway cast, I definitely plan to take my daughter to this one, in my continuing effort to turn her into a musical theatre dork like her mother.
Dream Girls begins February 25th. I don't think it requires much explanation at this point.
The 39 Steps opens April 27th it's billed as a mix between Hitchcock, a spy novel, and Monty Python.
And Finally finishing the season is good old dependable South Pacific. This show traditionally has great numbers that keep the show bouncing along. I'd say it's fool proof!

Hope to see you all at the theatre. If I get any good discounts along the way I'll forward them on to you.
