Starz Outlander Season 2 News and Sneak Peek @Outlander_Starz #Outlander #TV

Outlander Season 2 Claire

Author note- big duh this is not the second season but the second half of the first season. Have I mentioned how much I love this new trend of splitting seasons? I guess I could call it season 1.5??

Starz just released these new photos and trailer for Season 2 of OUTLANDER!!! Season 2 begins April 4th, so we still have several months to wait but hopefully this will make it a bit easier. OK I know it won't but at least it's something. If you can't wait go read the books. If you already read the books...reread the books.

Outlander First Episode Available NOW @Outlander_Starz #Outlander

We're very excited that Starz is allowing everyone to get a one week early preview of Outlander. Don't worry you don't have to be a subscriber to Starz to get in on this, but you do have to live in the U.S. Just go to Starz.com and pick your preferred method to watch it or click this link Starz Outlander Preview.

Here's our review by Audra Crane

Outlander is based on the historical novels by Diana Gabaldon about Claire Beauchamp Randall, a WWII nurse who at the close of the war goes on a second honeymoon to reconnect with her husband in the Scottish Highlands. During the holiday she falls through time and finds herself in 1743 and in the hands of a band of Scots on the run from a British patrol.

I just watched it and can say that it is perfectly faithful to the book and extremely well done. The landscape shots in the opening are gorgeous and give the series an epic feel from the first moments. The great fears for those of us who read and enjoyed the books were that the series would feel cheap or the actors would not convincingly embody the characters we had grown to love: those fears are put to rest. Starz  spent  serious money and got real talent on this production and it all shows up on the screen.  As with any new series, and particularly in the case of this novel, quite a bit of exposition and background needs to go into the first episode. The filmmakers and actress playing Claire (Catriona Balfe) manage to do this quite smoothly and keep the story moving. And the big question on the minds of  fans- can Sam Heughan do justice to Jamie Fraser- is answered with a standing ovation by this viewer. Now I have to finish this up so that I can watch it again- it was that good.

The series proper will appear on Starz starting on Saturday, August 9th. The first half of season one will be shown every Saturday for eight straight weeks before going on a cruel hiatus and then wrapping up early in 2015. The episode contains nudity and sexual situations- so better to watch it after the kids are in bed.

Magic City Returns to Starz June 14th

Magic City is returning to Starz Friday June 14th. It looks like the new season will be taking us to Cuba and giving us a lot more screen time with James Caan (Sy Berman).

Based on this first look at Season 2 clip Ike is feeling pretty guilty about the damage he has caused but isn't even considering throwing in the towel. Things are sure to heat up with Ike Evans (Jeffery Dean Morgan) trying to not only disentangle himself from the tentacles of Ben Diamond (Danny Houston) but also taking over at least some of his business.

Magic City Premieres on Starz Friday, April 6th

Magic City starts tomorrow night on Starz! This is just a reminder, I'll definetly be tuning in and tweeting it with #MagicCity.
Both fingers crossed for it to be as great as it looks. I completely admit to a school girl crush on Danny Houston. Looks like he is playing the bad guy, again, in this. Why don't they ever give him the nice guy parts? Anyway, for more details check the Magic City Starz site.

Magic City on Starz

Magic City is premiering April 6th on Starz.

I haven't seen it or even seen any reviews but I am really excited for the show. Let's rub our lucky rabbits feet and hope for a home run on this one. We'll be a few weeks into the new Mad Men season 5 by then, so our desperation level shouldn't cloud our judgement.

Here's the show Synopsis from Starz:

Miami Beach, 1959.

As Ike Evans rings in the New Year at his luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel, Havana falls to Castro’s rebels. It’s a turbulent time in Miami, but it’s THE place to be. The Kennedys, the mob and the CIA all hold court here. And Ike, he’s the star of his hotel.

But everything comes at a price. To finance his dream, he sold his soul to mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond. Ike’s wife Vera, a former showgirl, and his three kids think he’s an honorable man, but he can’t break his pact with the devil. His life is a façade.

In fact, nothing at the Miramar Playa is what it seems. By day, it’s diving clowns and cha-cha lessons. By night, escorts have secret liaisons with husbands in the family cabanas, while Miami’s seedier residents and the law drift together to hear legendary singers, musicians and comics.

As Ike’s world threatens to implode, he fights for his family, and the Miramar Playa, in Magic City.

Magic City on Starz

Just caught the preview for Magic City on Starz today. I keep hoping that one of these new shows set in the 1960's will be as good as Mad Men, could this be the one?

Set in a hotel in 1959 Miami there are plenty of interesting places for it to go. Mobsters, The Kennedy's, The Rat Pack, the whole Cuba thing??? All that and what sounds like a Louis Prima soundtrack. Lots of promise, and my fingers are crossed they come across with the goods.

The cast is pretty impressive too with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Danny Huston (Hubba Hubba). Check them out in this trailer.
